WRW Editorial Services

Jason Sitzes, Director

Writing a novel is so personal that it's nearly impossible for you to be an "objective evaluator" of your own work. To be willing to ask for "honest" feedback from a pro is an important step in every pre-published writer's career. If you feel ready for that in-depth analysis of your work, if you have reached that moment when you'd rather know than not know what is or is not working in your novel, and--more importantly--why, then the WRW Manuscript Evaluation Service may be exactly right for you.

OPTION 1:  MANUSCRIPT EVALUATION:
Up to 400 pages, double-spaced (averaging 250 words per page, additional pages: $4 each).
Includes thorough report, a 30-minute phone call once you've reviewed the comments, Audio Novel Workshop, and marketing advice for your synopsis and cover letter.

After you've booked your WRW manuscript evaluation and we've received your manuscript*, you'll be sent a copy of Gary Provost's highly acclaimed AUDIO NOVEL WORKSHOP. While we read and diagnose your manuscript, you will be listening to the CDs.  The more you listen, the better prepared you'll be to process the feedback you'll receive in our report.

With a 15-30 page personal evaluation, our report will point out any problems dealing with such craft elements as plotting, pacing, dialogue, description, viewpoint, characterization, motivation, style, etc. Along with identifying these weaknesses in your submitted draft, we will also offer suggestions for how to convert those weaknesses into strengths in your re-write.

Since we examine all plot elements carefully, the evaluation might reveal to you that your manuscript has a major structural flaw, or is in dire need of having stakes raised, motivation increased, suspense extended, viewpoint switched, etc. You'll discover that we tend to hammer home our points, sometimes by discussion, sometimes by example, sometimes by re-writing.

Our report also will address how to best approach the marketplace when your manuscript is re-written and ready for submission to an agent.  (Fee: $1750)

OPTION 2:  THE PARTIAL MS. DIAGNOSIS REPORT
A detailed 3-5 pages analyzes the first 100 pages, plus double-spaced synopsis of the rest of the novel.
(Fee: $800.)

OPTION 3:   PERSONAL COURSE
Limited number of these projects, conducted annually, based on your writing needs.  A WRW core staff member will work with you one-on-one either in person or via the Internet and phone.
(Fees vary. Travel expenses additional, excluding local clients.)

OPTION 4:  GROUP EVENTS
We are also available for weekend local writer's groups events for one-on-one meetings with members of your group, and courses based on group needs.
(Fees vary.)

OPTION 5: GHOSTWRITING
